Dear Delegates, It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you all to the fourth annual session of Izmir Kız High School Model United Nations Conference. I am Ecrin Tügen, and I will be serving as your Secretary General for this conference. I am here to ensure you have an unforgettable experience in the best way possible.
During the conference, you will not only engage in diplomatic discussions, but you will also develop your leadership and communication skills, gain a deeper understanding of international issues, learn about the policies of other countries, practice crisis management, and socialize with delegates from other schools who may become your close friends. Briefly, this conference will offer you far more than you expect.
Of course, a great conference does not come together easily. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my Executive, Organization, and Academic Teams, who have worked constantly and intensively throughout the entire process. I am certain that this conference will be amazing because of their hard work.

Honorable Delegates, Advisors, Staff Members, and Valued Partners, I am very pleased to welcome you to MUNIKL'26, the 4th Annual Session of the İzmir Kız High School Model United Nations Conference. My name is Ayşe Uraslı, and I am proud to serve as the Director-General of this year’s conference.
MUNIKL is more than just a conference; it is a growing tradition built through dedication, teamwork, and the passion of those who have come before us. Hosting the fourth session of this conference brings both pride and responsibility. Each year, we aim not only to continue this tradition but also to strengthen and improve it. We want MUNIKL to be a platform where ideas, diplomacy, and leadership come together.
Organizing a conference like MUNIKL takes commitment and teamwork. Along with our esteemed Executive Team and our academic and organization teams, we have worked hard to create an experience that reflects both the spirit of Model United Nations and the values of our community. Committee Description: The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for promoting responsible, sustainable, and accessible tourism worldwide. It serves as a global forum for tourism policies and provides research, statistics, and guidance to governments and tourism stakeholders. The organization aims to develop tourism as a driver of economic growth, international understanding, and sustainable development while supporting member states in improving tourism competitiveness. UNWTO also recognizes the impact of natural disasters on tourism enterprises. Events such as earthquakes, floods, or wildfires can damage tourism infrastructure, disrupt services, and reduce tourist arrivals. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is aware that natural disasters can significantly influence tourism activities and the stability of tourism enterprises around the world and seeks to address this issue.
Agenda Item: Strengthening tourism enterprises’ resilience against natural disasters and fostering enterprises to follow a comprehensive disaster plan.

Committee Description: The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women is a United Nations agency dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. It seeks to transform laws, institutions, social norms, and services in order to close the gender gap and create an equal world for all women and girls. Ensuring women’s security is one of the key areas in which UN Women operates. Numerous factors contribute to women’s feelings of insecurity in public spaces. The protection of women’s rights and the development of gender-sensitive strategies and policies constitute a shared responsibility of all states and organizations.
Agenda Item: Enhancing gender-sensitive public space policies aimed at upholding women’s security and peaceful mobility.

Committee Description: The United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development is a subsidiary body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The Commission is mandated by ECOSOC to convene an annual intergovernmental forum for discussions on issues related to science, technology, and development. Within the scientific community, experiments involving therapeutic and human cloning have introduced a significant dimension to debates concerning science and the ethics of personal rights. While the biomedical sector may advance through the legalization of therapeutic cloning, state legal systems could be undermined by violations of the rights to personal inviolability and security. Moreover, such practices carry the potential to erode fundamental ethical values.

Committee Description: “Convention Nationale” or the National Convention of 1792 was during the French Revolution’s most radical and violent stage. The Convention came about when the Legislative Assembly decreed the provisional suspension of King Louis XVI and the convocation of a National Convention to draw up a new constitution with no monarchy. During the convention, delegates will represent French parliament members while tackling possible crisis developments in the midst of the revolution. The convention will determine whether the parliament will take measures to mitigate the violence and reach a diplomatic resolution, or pursue an alternative course of action. The fate of France will be shaped in your hands.

Committee Description: The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) is a United Nations office responsible for promoting international cooperation in the peaceful use and exploration of outer space. It supports countries in developing legal and regulatory frameworks for space activities and helps ensure that space science and technology contribute to sustainable development. As human space exploration advances, topics such as the potential settlement of Mars are becoming increasingly important. Future human presence on Mars would raise legal, ethical, and governance questions about how space should be used. In this context, UNOOSA plays an important role in promoting international dialogue and cooperation to ensure that future activities on Mars remain peaceful and beneficial for all humanity.
Agenda Item: Approaching the habitability of Mars to create additional living spaces for humanity and developing infrastructure for long-term civilizing.

Committee Description: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is an intergovernmental military alliance that consists of 19 member states.(1999) The Alliance was founded as part of a broader effort to achieve three primary objectives: to encourage European political integration, to prevent the resurgence of nationalist militarism in Europe through a strong North American presence on the continent, and to deter Soviet expansionism. In March 1999, NATO launched an air campaign against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The official code name of this operation, conducted by 11 member states, was Operation Allied Force. NATO’s military intervention through air strikes, intended to protect Kosovar civilians, represents a significant action by the Alliance, as it marked the first time in NATO’s history that military force was employed in this manner.

Committee Description: The Supreme Council of Pantheons is the fictional assembly composed of mythological authorities representing various cultures around the world. The members of the Council primarily convene to discuss matters related to divine power and justice. The legitimacy of the Pantheons’ authority over the daily lives of human beings on Earth, as well as over the laws of nature, remains a subject of debate, since these mandates are often implemented according to the wishes and individual wills of the Pantheons themselves. Disasters that affect life on Earth may arise from the personal conflicts and disputes among the Pantheons, and such events can have devastating consequences for humanity. And don’t forget that the members of the SCP are deeply familiar with experiences such as tragedy, love, heartbreak, betrayal, and war.

Committee Description: The Battle of Hogwarts is a fictional battle depicted in the final books and films of the Harry Potter series, written by J.K.Rowling and later adapted into films. The battle represents the final and most decisive confrontation of the Second Wizarding War. It takes place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where students, teachers, allies, members of “the Order of the Phoenix” and members of “Dumbledore’s Army” unite to defend the school against the forces of Lord Voldemort and his army, known as Death Eaters. Led by Harry Potter, the defenders fight to stop Voldemort from gaining full control over the wizarding world.
